Preservation America believes in the power of the visual and performing arts to connect us to our deepest emotions. These arts are the cornerstones of a fertile cultural life and a dynamic way of building community. We believe our rural community deserves its own place to embrace and explore a richer view of the world at large.  Glen Mary is that place!

Glen Mary is not only an iconic part of history, but also a living changing experience. Commanding a hilltop in the beautiful, yet accessible, Middle Georgia Piedmont countryside, Glen Mary ambitiously provides a place for inclusive cultural programs, encompassing music, art education, the arts associated with historic preservation, filming, lectures, and environmental projects.

Glen Mary is a place of sensibility reflecting the cultural richness of a stunning architectural concert venue. Gaining renown as a notable musical venue, Glen Mary provides various musical genres from classical to gospel. Glen Mary’s Steinway piano further ennobles the spectacular double parlor which is the perfect intimate venue for chamber music.  Outdoors, when you hear the joyous sounds of live music that surprise, charm or thrill you, you will long remember that they filled the air in the magical gardens at Glen Mary.

Art and historic restoration have always been corelated and for the preservation movement the arts play a particularly vital role. Over the past twenty years Glen Mary’s restoration had the amazing benefit of talented artists in various applied arts, such as architecture, sculpture, drawing, and design to recreate and revitalize missing or damaged architectural elements. Landscape designers, who are accomplished artists in their own right, along with the scientific authority of UGA’s anthropologists resurrected heritage gardens or designed lost gardens. Glen Mary is a synthesis of performance art, building art, decorative art and historic preservation.
